How does UWGCV strengthen your program?
UWGCV funds are used to support the work of our Homeless Intervention Programs.
These programs help individuals and families experiencing homelessness or who are at
risk of homelessness achieve housing stability through a combination of medium and
long-term rental assistance, in-home case management, and connection to community
resources. Homeless Intervention staff members work to match individuals and families
with programs that meet their needs across Barron, Chippewa, Dunn, Pepin, Pierce, Polk, and St. Croix counties in west central Wisconsin. UWGCV funding is critical to support this department and to help us meet our HUD funding matching requirements to keep this program serving the greater Chippewa Valley. Our program objectives include: Move households into housing within 60 days of program enrollment, Help participants receive public benefits to ease the household’s financial burden, Assist participants in establishing a positive rental history, Help participants find housing in desirable neighborhoods/towns that are close to resources (parks, schools, community centers), and Overall stability and higher quality of life for families and communities. In our FYE 2023, West CAP's Homeless Intervention Programs served 22 Chippewa Falls
households, totaling 32 individuals. Services included weekly to monthly in-home case
management, monthly rent assistance, utility assistance, food assistance, life skills
coaching, and rental counseling.
What is your greatest program need?
Our greatest need beyond funding would be for household products to give to those who
are coming from a homeless situation and are being housed - small vacuums, cleaning
products, brooms and dustpans, paper towels, toilet paper, box fans, and lightbulbs.
