Hello, my name is Vanessa Kane, and I am the current Chair of the Emerging Leaders Advisory Council. I live with my husband and two daughters in the Chippewa Falls area.

My family and I enjoy making our own personal maple syrup in the springtime. During the summer we are usually on the lake, kayaking or boating, or tending our vegetable garden. Otherwise you will find me curled up with a book in one of my reading nooks trying to relax. Our house is always full of happy chaos with two dogs, a cat, and more goldfish than anyone would want. For the past 7 years I have worked as a CPA for the public accounting firm Baker Tilly in Eau Claire and currently work as a Manager on the Public Sector Audit and Assurance team. Through my work I’ve learned a great deal about the activities and operations of local governments and not-for-profits. Working with diverse organizations in many local communities helped open my eyes to the importance of groups like the United Way and the programs that they support.

I joined Emerging Leaders four years ago because I was looking for a way to give back to the community and work with other individuals who are passionate about filling the needs gaps within the Greater Chippewa Valley. I learned of United Way and Emerging Leaders through my work, and since I became involved my enthusiasm for their mission has grown so much. This group has given me so many opportunities for learning and supporting programs right here within the community. I’ve greatly enjoyed meeting and working with others on the Emerging Leaders Advisory Council in addition to being involved with the Campaign Cabinet, employer campaigns, and Day of Caring.

Coming up on Saturday, April 23rd is the Emerging Leader’s Dueling Pianos event. If you’d like to join us for this amazingly fun night, tickets are available here.

The Emerging Leaders and I would like to thank you for your involvement with the United Way and your help in allowing us to work toward creating a lasting, positive impact in our communities. For anyone who would like to learn for about the Emerging Leaders, feel free to reach out.
