October 20, 2020 Newsletter

As the leaves are changing outside, we’re also seeing some change at our United Way. We’re excited to be welcoming three new team members to our staff this month!

Joining us following Nona Buchholz’s retirement is Lance Liddell, who will take on the role of Director of Accounting & Administration (you’ll hear more on him below). Other additions to the team are Rachel Phelan as Director of Marketing & Communications and Isabella Hong as Community Impact Director.

Our United Way team has done a great job wearing multiple hats the past few months and we’re energized to be back at full strength! Keep an eye out for the next several newsletters as each team member takes a turn introducing the newsletter and telling you a little more about them.

Thank you all for your support of the wonderful work we do!

Sincerely,

Andrew Neborak
Executive Director, United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley

Join us again this month on a Journey of Impact. Our series of impact tour videos is meant to showcase how YOUR support and contributions do important things for the community YOU live in. A big thanks goes out to our Emerging Leaders group for their work in producing these impact tour videos for our United Way program partners.

In the video above, you can see the story of the Chippewa Valley Free Clinic. The clinic primarily serves the working poor through their medical, dental, vision, mental health, and diabetic departments. Programs in physical activity and nutrition, among other services, are also available at the clinic.

Check out the video to see how United Way helps support these great programs!

2020 Day of Caring

Last month, we successfully hosted our annual Day of Caring event, albeit in a different format. Over a two-week span, over 200 volunteers from our 2020 sponsors worked to pack over 5,000 kids meals, 2,000 pounds of pasta, and assist with some projects in various Eau Claire and Chippewa county parks. Thanks to our presenting sponsor, UnitedHealthcare, and supporting sponsors BMO Harris Bank, Marshfield Clinic Health System, Mason Companies, Inc., Mayo Clinic Health System, Royal Credit Union, and Wipfli for their support in making a great impact this year. We look forward to welcoming back many of our loyal volunteers in 2021!

Welcome, Lance Liddell!
We’re pleased to welcome Lance Liddell to our team at United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley (UWGCV) as Director of Accounting & Administration. He comes to us from Prosper Real Estate where he was an Accounts Payable Specialist. Lance has previously spent time at Eau Claire Ford as an Office Manager and Foxboro Property Management as the Operations Accountant / Human Resources Coordinator. Please join us in welcoming Lance to the UWGCV team!

COVID Recovery Grants
Earlier in 2020, United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley (UWGCV), together with UWGCV’s Endowment, committed to granting $500,000 for COVID recovery efforts. First wave funding was completed in early August (read more here) and second wave funding followed in late September.

To date, $358,369 has been allocated to eight organizations in Eau Claire and Chippewa counties. A third wave of funding will be announced on December 14. Applications for funding are due December 1. The request for proposal can be found here.
