Hello! My name is Kelsey Stroot. I’m the Event Coordinator Intern. I have been with United Way for about a month.
I am currently a senior at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a Spanish minor. I am originally from Brainerd, MN where I spend summers on the lakes with my family and then come back to Wisconsin to join the cheese heads for the school year. I enjoy spending time being active outdoors or having a game night in with my friends. I also hop on opportunities to travel when I can!

I am excited to be a part of the UWGCV team and the work they do for the community. I hope to share my creativity through the various events happening this spring and summer!

February is Black History Month! The theme for the 2022 Black History Month celebration is “Black Health and Wellness.”
As the COVID-19 pandemic has recently shown, a widespread disparity of access to quality healthcare negatively impacts outcomes for black people and other minorities.
In 1976 the association that Woodson had founded (later renamed the Association for the Study of African American Life and History) facilitated the widespread institutionalization of February as Black History Month, and U.S. President Gerald Ford urged Americans to participate in its observance.
