Letter from Karen Hebert, Interim Executive Director

Dear Friend,

Welcome. Thank you for sharing your valuable time with us.

I often think in terms of design and flow. From governance to parenting to posture, being aware of design and flow brings insight, inspiration and optimal action. We joyfully and hopefully spend ourselves – our time, talent and treasure – connected to missions larger than just our own.

When we do this, in this united way, we are not depleted – we rise.

In this newsletter you will have the chance to consider and celebrate “Why United Way?” Consider why United Way of the Greater Chippewa Valley is designed as it is.  Consider how generous gifts advance the common good when focused by United Way. Consider how we value just a few of our hundreds of volunteers. We look back and give thanks. We look forward and anticipate recovery and growth.

Design and Flow in Giving

Your United Way is served by four Advisory Councils focused on making an impact on what matters most in education, health, financial stability and access to basic human needs. Leaders of each council make up our Community Impact Council. These community leaders understand our neighbors’ needs, collaborate and make wise decisions.

Soon these leaders will focus $500,000 in United Way’s Response and Recovery Community Fund to inspire and fund local nonprofits in their recovery efforts in the current phase of the global pandemic. We will work together with the Community Foundation of Chippewa County and the Eau Claire Community Foundation in order to maximize our efforts. While we have always been friends, our growing partnerships will be an enduring benefit of these challenging days.

Design and Flow in Receiving

For decades the United Way Golf Outing has been known as the premiere outing in the Chippewa Valley. Fun, camaraderie, great food and prizes have built our tournament trademark. This design is not by chance. Read the story of our United Way Endowment, how it’s grown, and how donors, sponsors and golfers have worked to make our Response and Recovery Grant a reality.

We have been challenged by a global pandemic and your United Way is designed to help. Golfers and donors have built our endowment so support can flow. You, in partnership with United Way in this important time, are advancing the common good.

Thank you.

Yours in the United Way,

Karen Hebert
