United Way Emerging Leaders Society uses money raised from spring event to purchase outdoor activity path
A Born Learning Trail will be installed tonight at Irvine Park in Chippewa Falls by the United Way Emerging Leaders Society. The leadership group used dollars they raised during their Dueling Pianos event to purchase the trail kit through United Way Worldwide
Born Learning Trails are an outdoor activity path for parents and caregivers to walk through with their preschoolers to encourage them to talk, listen, read, think, imagine and create. They consist of 9 activity stations designed to help parents, caregivers and communities support early childhood development through research-based activities that promote early learning. These trails support the primary objectives of United Way’s Successful Children’s Network, a collaboration of programs working to ensure all children enter school ready to succeed.
The trail was approved by the Chippewa Falls Parks and Recreation board back in July. “The Born Learning Trail will be a popular and exciting new addition to Irvine Park,” says Dick Hebert, Chippewa Falls Parks and Recreation director. “It will be a perfect fit next to the new playground equipment.”
“This is part of United Way Emerging Leaders initiative to help keep kids active and engaged through the power of play,” says Jamie Kane, chair of the Emerging Leaders Society and event coordinator for Scheels . “The Born Learning Trail will be a wonderful addition to Irvine Park and we are honored to facilitate this initiative here in Chippewa Falls. We look forward to seeing all the kids and their grown-ups enjoy it."
A public ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held during the noon rally at the United Way Community Block Party on Saturday at Irvine Park.
The Emerging Leaders program was developed to engage young leaders with United Way and connect them to the community. Emerging Leaders are a diverse group of individuals aged 21-45 who make a contribution to United Way. Various social, volunteer and educational opportunities are available through Emerging Leaders. Emerging Leaders benefit from a strong sense of pride that comes from knowing that you make a difference in our community.
